Me and my sisters are apparently living very different lifestyles. Im getting to know the harsh reality of compact boxed living with the rundown facades on buildings and the peeling walls whilst my sisters are going high society style. I have to say...the best place ive been to so far is the hospital where my uncle's been staying....and the staff there are the most well mannered hk ppl i've met so far.
They serve macaroni in Maccas as one of their breakfast menu...=....and theyve got the coolest looking hot chips in KFC.
Ive finally seen my cousins and aunts after 10 longgg years! After all these years of just looking at photos of them, seeing them in person now is like woah..theyre real people!I watched Curious case of Benjamin Button today with 2 of my cousins today, thats one long movie. I walked around....the...APM?..I think thats what it was...basically just a shopping centre =P. I noticed that if you look at actual international brands like Esprit it's not any cheaper than in Aus so i didn't think it was really worth buying those brands here. Im going to go to all those market kinda random brand stores and snag some stuff instead.

Did i mention how scary this place is? It's so shifty...My mum was telling me to stop hanging my bag behind me cos i could get mugged. I was like....what....so she told me to notice how everyone wears their bags towards the front of them.....and its true. Its freaky. Before she let me go off with my cousins, she spent a good 10min teaching me how to use my wallet....literally = ie, "don't put your notes in the same wallet as your coins. Don't keep opening your wallet to get the Octopus card (although i learnt that u can leave it in there and itll still scan). Don't keep looking for things in your bag cos ppl are going to be spying on you and check out where exactly you put your wallet so that they can just steal from you later. Why do you carry everything in just one big bag cos they can slice a hole in the bottom of it and steal everyhing. Separate all your stuff. "
I feel like everywhere I go someone's going to try to mugg me now.

I'm never going to go backpacking or i might just do a Harold Holts. Honestly, I feel like im backpacking right now (minus all the luggage). It does suck in a way but I guess it's an experience. Australia's living conditions seems like paradise right now hahha. Right now my room is a 2x2metre box which i think is really quaint and cute but then when im in the hk streets i somehow feel like im still in a box. Everywhere you go basically is a box. We went past some government housing buildings right and they LITERALLY look like half of a shipping cargo box stacked up all on top of one another.

Transport is also hectic. Getting to one place require taking a bus, changing 4 train lines, and then taking another bus. On the map they looked so close but via all these routes it gives you a headache. I told my mum ill pay for a taxi and she just snubbed me. On the train i saw this 'first class compartment' sign, im going to check out what that is later.
I miss parks. Is this homesickness? Ive been here for 3days...so 30 more to go?

LOL you'll get used to it, before long you'll be like me, permanently hugging my bag and being sus and reflexively giving dirtys to anyone who looks the slightest bit dodgy. When you get back to syd you'll probs be annoyed at the super inefficient everything =p
but yeah the miniscule living space is a bitch that ill never get used to
I love HK so i have no complains. Maybe except for the unreliable streams of eye candies.
Also, (to defend HK)it's not a scary place! You just need to be more street-smart :)
At least you're allowed a bag and wallet!
I'm going to be demoted to wearing 'special t-shirts' with pockets for money/passport etc
